How to do Senegalese twists

To start making Senegalese twists, you’ll need to begin with clean and detangled hair. It’s best to use a wide-tooth comb or a detangling brush to gently work out any knots or tangles, starting from the ends and working your way up to the roots. Once your hair is detangled, you can apply a leave-in conditioner or a styling product to help moisturize and define your hair.

Next, you’ll need to section your hair into small sections, depending on how many twists you want to create. For a full head of Senegalese twists, you’ll typically want to start with 4-6 sections of hair. Take one section of hair and divide it into three equal parts, just like you would for a regular braid. Then, twist the three strands of hair together, but instead of twisting them all the way down to the end of the section, you’ll stop about halfway down and drop the bottom strand. This will create a “braid” section that will later be twisted into the rest of the hair.

To continue the twist, take the remaining two strands of hair and twist them together, adding in the dropped bottom strand as you go. Repeat this process until you reach the end of the section of hair. You can then repeat this process with each section of hair until you’ve completed the entire head. To finish the twist, you can secure it with a small elastic band or bobby pin. With practice, you’ll be able to create beautiful and intricate Senegalese twists that will last for weeks with minimal maintenance.

Senegalese twists

Senegalese twists, also known as “Twist and Pin” or “Braided Twist,” are a unique hairstyle that sets itself apart from other twisting methods. Unlike traditional twists, which involve twisting the hair in a continuous motion, Senegalese twists involve a combination of braiding and twisting. This technique creates a rope-like texture with visible strands of hair that are twisted together, giving the style a distinctive and eye-catching appearance. The process of creating a Senegalese twist is also more labor-intensive than other twisting methods, requiring a great deal of patience and skill to achieve the desired look. The end result is a stunning, intricate hairstyle that is both visually appealing and requires minimal maintenance.
